An American Band - The America Story: The BookReviewsSounds like you've been to heaven, hell and back. Steve B. I just finished reading the part of your biography about you and George Harrison. When I stop laughing I will read some more! Jimmy R. I thoroughly enjoyed "The America Story". I bought the albums, but knew very little about the individual members of the band. Jeff. S I have read several chapters of your autobiography and your candid recollections and insights are extremely valuable to this long time America fan. Your contribution not only to the America catalog of music but to pop music as a whole is now legendary and despite what happened in the past within the group, you have made your name in the history of 20th Century popular and Christian music. Thank you for opening your heart to America fans and sharing your experiences with them, both good and bad. It takes a person of great character to be as bold and honest as you have been. And I'm sure, in the end, it will be about all the joy your music has brought to millions of people over the last 30 years. It is a legacy to be proud of, forever. You have truly been blessed by God. John L. Thanks for the autobiography. I have been a fan since the 8-track days ('72), through LP's and now CD's. Your music (Gerry, Dan, Dewey) was the music of my generation. Partied, loved and cried to it. Reading your story made me realize you guys did the same. A critical view of the LA music scene that nobody else has had the balls to talk about. Thanks Dan... Gray S. I have been reading your autobiography of America. I am very enthralled by it. It's amazing, you write so easily that the reader is immediately drawn in. Heather J. Just got done reading your America biography and may I say you are an extremely talented and amazing writer. You made me feel and live the different chapters of your life with your detailed account of what transpired including how you guys felt and what you guys thought. I'd find myself laughing like during the story about the Ian Samwell getting very upset seeing a sheep he thought was hurt by a stick just to find out the jagged branch just got tangled in the sheep's fat tail... it's like I was in the car seeing all that and thank God I wasn't. I would have broke down laughing. You can recall things that happened including how people reacted and how you saw it - and tell the story like it just happened. Although you had criticism's or comments about others, you were honest enough to criticize yourself. It shows you are a very sensitive and sincere human being who doesn't know how to be phony or anything else. In your candidness and honesty, you often get yourself into trouble but if people took the time to understand you, you're really a good hearted person. I felt your pain when you talked about feeling like the whole neighborhood, friends and world were all against you. Sometimes God sure has reasons for humbling us and making realize we do need him. Fiona G. Just read your America Story. Thanks for your transparency and honesty. And thanks for your faithfulness to the good news of Christ's redeeming power. Jim T. Loved the America Story, and loved how you shared the Lord without being religious or being anything but honest and real. Steve P. I really enjoyed the "America Story" and found it quite mesmerizing while I sat here reading the whole thing. Jim J. I just finished reading your "America" story, all 60+ episodes back to back. I've followed America's and your career since it began with the release of the America LP. I enjoyed all of the insights that you gave regarding your own personal life and Dewey's and Gerry's.
